How to verify your identity on TBBN

Identity verification is a one-time check of a government ID and a selfie. You need it before you can:

• create a Business (to host a Space or run a Merchant account),
• host a Space,
• leave an item at a Space for someone else to collect.

Browsing, listing, offering, trading and booking a meetup or a desk don't need it.

What you need

• A passport, driving licence or national ID card that hasn't expired.
• A phone or computer with a camera for a live selfie.
• About three minutes. You must be 16 or older.

Steps

1. Sign in on tbbnetwork.com and open Your account, then select Identity (or go to tbbnetwork.com/account/verify).
2. Under Which country do you live in?, choose your country.
3. Select Start verification. You're sent to Stripe's secure verification page. Stripe runs the check for TBBN.
4. On Stripe's page:
   1. Choose the type of document you have.
   2. Take or upload photos of the document — the front, and the back if Stripe asks for it.
   3. Take a live selfie when asked. On a computer without a camera, Stripe offers to continue on your phone with a link or QR code.
   4. Submit.
5. Stripe sends you straight back to Verify your identity on tbbnetwork.com.

What each status means

What TBBN keeps

The check happens on Stripe's page. TBBN records that it passed, plus the name, date of birth and document country Stripe confirmed, so you're never asked again. TBBN never stores images of your document or your face.

Tips for passing first time

• Use good light and avoid glare on the document. Lay it flat and fill the frame.
• Make sure all four corners are visible and the text is sharp.
• For the selfie, remove sunglasses or a hat and look straight at the camera.
• Use the same name you use on your TBBN account where you can.

Common questions

Do I have to verify to trade? No — only to create a Business, host a Space or drop off an item at a Space.

Does it cost anything? No.

I was sent back but nothing changed. Select Check again. Some checks take a few minutes.
