How to finish a trade on TBBN

Once an offer is accepted, a trade starts. How you finish it depends on who's involved:

  • Person-to-person swap — every item belongs to a TBBN member. You meet up (or ship to each other) and both confirm the swap happened. No checkout, no payment through TBBN.
  • Store trade — at least one item comes from a participating store. Each side completes that store's checkout, and the store handles payment and delivery.

Open your trade

  1. Sign in on tbbnetwork.com and open My trades (your account page).
  2. Under Trade history, select the trade.

The trade page shows its progress, Messages with the other side, and a Dispute section.

Person-to-person swaps

The progress bar reads ACCEPTED → RESERVED → MEET & SWAP → COMPLETED.

  1. Agree when and where. Use Messages on the trade page — type in Message the other side of this trade… and select Send. Messages are visible only to the two of you. Pick a public, well-lit place, or propose a TBBN Space (below). If you're shipping, agree who sends first and share tracking in Messages.
  2. Meet and check the item before you hand yours over.
  3. Confirm on the trade page. Under Meet and swap, select I received my item — confirm the swap.
  4. When the other person confirms too, the trade shows Swap complete and moves to COMPLETED.

Meet at a TBBN Space

A TBBN Space is a staffed place to meet and swap. Whoever proposes a Space pays for it.

  1. On the trade page, under Meeting place, select Propose a Space.
  2. Type a city or place name and select Find Spaces. Only Spaces that take meetups are listed, with their price.
  3. Pick one. Optionally choose When.
  4. Tick the box to agree to pay for the Space (its price plus the processing fee and any tax) and to its booking terms if the other trader accepts. Select Propose this Space.

The other trader sees your proposal and selects Accept this place, or Suggest somewhere else to propose a different Space (which they'd pay for). You can't accept your own proposal.

When a Space is accepted, it's booked in the proposer's name. The proposer selects Pay for the booking under Meeting place to pay (or Confirm the booking for a free Space). If the Space can't be booked — for example it's full at that time — you'll see why, and the proposal stays open.

If the swap didn't happen — they didn't show up, or the item wasn't as described — select The swap didn't happen, say what happened, and select End the trade. This can't be undone, and the trade ends for both of you. If you need TBBN to step in, file a dispute.

Store trades

The progress bar reads ACCEPTED → RESERVING → RESERVED → CHECKOUT → LOCKED → FULFILLMENT → COMPLETED.

  1. Reserved. Each item is held for the trade.
  2. Hold terms. When the trade reaches checkout, the trade page shows the Hold terms: how long your item stays reserved while both sides check out, and how long the other side's store keeps the trade open for them if you pay first. Read them and select I understand and agree.
  3. Checkout. Complete your side's checkout on the store's own site, following the store's instructions (some stores send you there automatically or by email). Any balance, taxes or delivery charges are shown there. Each side checks out independently — you don't wait for the other person.
  4. Locked and fulfilment. Once both sides have paid, the trade locks and each store ships or hands over its item.
  5. Completed. Both sides have their items.

Some stores settle their side on their own platform instead of a TBBN-orchestrated checkout. Then you follow that store's own steps, and it reports the result.

If the other side never pays, the store that already received your payment holds the trade open for the days shown in the hold terms. After that, it may close the trade and unwind your side — follow that store's refund or return terms.

What the other statuses mean

StatusWhat happened
EXCHANGE FAILEDA person-to-person swap was ended by one side
RESERVATION FAILEDAn item was no longer available when the trade tried to reserve it
PAYMENT FAILEDA checkout payment didn't go through — check with the store
CANCELLED / EXPIREDThe trade was cancelled or ran out of time
CLOSED UNRECIPROCATEDOne side paid, the other never did, and the store closed the trade

If something goes wrong

  1. Talk to the other side in Messages first — most problems are solved there.
  2. If that doesn't work, under Dispute select Something wrong? File a dispute.
  3. Choose What went wrong? — Item not as described, Never received the item, Payment issue or Something else — and describe it under What happened?.
  4. Select File dispute. TBBN reviews it and follows up before anything else happens.

To report an abusive message, select Report under it. See Report a problem.

Afterwards

Mark the item you gave away as Sold on your account page if it still shows Available. Completed trades build your reputation, shown at the top of your account page.
