How to drop off an item at a TBBN Space for someone to collect

A drop-off booking lets you leave an item at a TBBN Space so someone else can collect it later — useful when you can't meet the other person at the same time.

Before you start

  • Verify your identity. Leaving an item in a host's care needs a verified person. Verify once — it takes about three minutes.
  • Know who's collecting. You need the email address of the person picking it up.
  • Check how long the host holds items. The booking card says "This host holds items for up to [N] day(s) after drop-off."
  • Check liability. The Space's page says whether the host accepts liability for a held item (up to a cap) — if not, you carry it.

Book the drop-off

  1. Find a Space that offers Drop off / pick up an item.
  2. On its result, choose Drop off / pick up an item.
  3. Enter the Pickup person's email, and their name if you like.
  4. Tick the booking terms and select Book, then pay.

After payment, the booking page shows: "Give this PIN to the host when you drop off your item."

Drop the item off

  1. Take the item to the Space.
  2. Give the host your drop-off PIN.
  3. The host checks the PIN and takes a photo of the item. That photo is the record of its condition.

As soon as the host confirms the drop-off, the pickup person is emailed their own pickup PIN. They don't get one before — a PIN for an item that was never dropped off would be useless.

Pick the item up

The person collecting:

  1. Goes to the Space with the email "Your TBBN Space item has been dropped off".
  2. Gives the host the pickup PIN from that email.
  3. The host checks the PIN, photographs the item, and hands it over.

You're emailed when it's been collected. The booking is then complete.

If something goes wrong

The pickup person never got their PIN. It's sent only after drop-off. If the item has been dropped off, they should check spam; you can also open the booking page and use Report it to TBBN.

The item isn't collected before the hold ends. It's treated under the host's policy for uncollected items. Any arrangement beyond the hold period is between you and the host.

The item was damaged or not returned. On the booking page, under the report section, choose Item damaged or Item not returned and select Report it to TBBN. The drop-off and pickup photos are the record. See Report a problem.

Safety

  • Package the item securely and don't leave cash or valuables you haven't told the host about.
  • Only share the PINs with the host — never post them publicly or send them to anyone else.
  • Drop-offs of prohibited or dangerous items aren't allowed; see the Terms.
