Staying safe when trading and meeting in person

Most swaps go smoothly. These habits keep them that way.

Before you agree

  • Use clear photos and honest descriptions on your own listings, and expect the same.
  • Ask questions in Messages on the trade page — size, condition, what's included. Keep the conversation on TBBN so there's a record if something goes wrong.
  • Read the terms for store trades: checkout, hold, delivery and return terms are shown before you confirm.
  • Be wary of pressure to rush, pay outside the trade, or move the conversation elsewhere.

Meeting in person

  • Choose a public, well-lit place — a café, a shopping centre, or a TBBN Space booked for meetups.
  • Tell someone your plan, or bring a friend.
  • Meet in daylight where you can.
  • Inspect the item before you hand yours over. Turn it on, try it on, check serial numbers.
  • Only confirm the swap on TBBN once you have the item. See Finish a trade.
  • If something feels wrong, leave. You can end the trade afterwards.

Keep your details private

  • Never share your sign-in codes — not with the other person, not with anyone claiming to be TBBN. TBBN never asks for them.
  • Keep your home address private until you're comfortable — meeting at a Space avoids sharing it.
  • Keep PINs and check-in codes for Space bookings to yourself and the host.
  • TBBN never asks for your password (there isn't one) or your card details by message.

Drop-offs

  • Use drop-off and pickup when you can't meet — the host checks a PIN and photographs the item at each step.
  • Check whether the host accepts liability for held items before you book.

Shipping

  • Agree who sends first in Messages.
  • Use tracked shipping and share the tracking number in Messages.
  • Photograph the item and packaging before sending.

Prohibited items

Don't list, offer or drop off prohibited or controlled items — drugs, weapons, counterfeits, stolen goods and similar. See the Terms. If you see one, report it.
