How to make a swap offer on TBBN
A swap offer proposes trading one or more of your own items — plus cash if you like — for an item you want. To make one you need a TBBN account and at least one active listing of your own to offer.
Steps
- Find the item you want on Browse (the marketplace) and open it.
- Check Trade value and Looking for on the listing — they tell you what the other person values it at and what they'd like in return.
- Select Propose a swap. The Build your swap panel opens.
- Pick one or more of your items. Selected items show a tick.
- Optionally enter Add cash on top (optional).
- Check the summary:
- [the item] value — the value of what you want,
- Your offer value — the value of everything you're offering,
- the bottom line: Even swap, You still owe an amount, or [the other person] owes you an amount.
- Select Send swap proposal.
You see Offer sent! Follow it in your Inbox, where it's marked sent by you.
Why can't I make an offer?
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Log in required | Sign in, then come back to the listing |
| You don't have any active listings to offer yet. | List an item first, then return |
| This item isn't available for TBBN checkout. | It's a sale only listing. Follow the link to buy it on the store's own site |
| No Propose a swap button | The listing is your own, or it's no longer available |
Tips
- Offer items you'd genuinely part with — if they accept, the trade goes ahead.
- If the values don't match, adding cash makes the offer more likely to be accepted. See Trade value for how values are worked out.
- Use clear photos on your own listings — the other person sees them when deciding.
What happens next
The other person accepts or rejects it. If they accept, a trade starts and appears under Trade history on your account page — see Finish a trade.
